Masking is no longer required. Many pictures on this website have patients masked. This obviously is no longer mandated. Since I see many patients in a close interaction I will most likely be masked to protect you and myself. Unlike surgical masks, I use N95 respirator medical masks that are not open.
Cancellation Policy: Please Notify me the day before your scheduled appointment, preferably by text or phone call. Make sure that you get a response from me if no response is received, please try again. Same day cancellations/no shows will incur a $40 fee to be paid prior to another appointment. Your first Visit, What to Expect
Clothing for General Treatment Please come to your appointments in comfortable clothing that you are easily moved around in, Yoga attire is good, Shorts and a t-shirt are fine. Please don't wear compression clothing for sessions that include bodywork. Neoprene athletic clothing that compresses and controls is extremely difficult to work through.
Clothing for Postural Assessment When you are getting a postural assessment, please wear yoga attire or something that is more form fitting, that won’t move. This is to preserve the placement of tape markers in order to get a clear measurement.
Your full exam This may be on your 2nd or 3rd visit depending on treatment goals and the need to provide initial timely relief. During your full exam: a full health history is taken which includes questions regarding your health, symptoms and lifestyle. A physical exam is conducted, which includes pulse and tongue diagnosis, and palpation of the painful areas, a postural and movement assessment may be conducted on this day or at a future visit. Prior to your 1st appointment you will have access to the new patient paperwork, this will be emailed to you and then you will be able to fill it in on your computer, tablet or phone within the patient portal of my practice software.
Where to receive your Acupuncture session... In a Chair or on the Table?
So many choices in the clinic. Acupuncture in a Chair
Comfort: Many patients find it more comfortable to receive acupuncture while sitting in a chair, especially if they have back issues or find lying down uncomfortable.
Convenience: Chair acupuncture can be more convenient for quick treatments or for patients who have difficulty getting on and off a table.
Accessibility: It's easier for me to perform chair acupuncture. Giving me fast access to your arms and legs.
Group Settings: Chair acupuncture is often used in community-style settings where multiple patients are treated simultaneously, fostering a sense of shared healing.
Acupuncture on a Table
Full Body Access: Lying on a table allows me to access more points on the body, which can be beneficial for comprehensive private treatments.
Relaxation: Many patients find lying down more relaxing, which can enhance the overall effectiveness of the treatment by allowing you to fully relax.
Focused Treatment: Table acupuncture can be more focused on specific areas of the body, such as the back, neck, or limbs, providing targeted relief for certain conditions.
Traditional Setting: For those who prefer a more traditional acupuncture experience, lying on a table may feel more aligned with their expectations.
Combination Treatment when you choose to get bodywork with acupuncture this is the best option.
Choosing the Right Option The best choice depends on your preferences and the specific treatment goals. I offer both options and can recommend the most suitable one based on your needs and treatment goals.
Benefits of Relaxing Music During Acupuncture and Bodywork
Creating a tranquil environment: Relaxing music can help calm the mind and body, reducing stress and anxiety levels around the needles or where they are inside themselves boosting their mood and sense of well being, this can enhance the treatment's effectiveness by allowing the body to respond more positively. Better Sleep: For patients at home that have been seeking acupuncture for sleep disorders, relaxing music can help set the tone for better sleep by promoting relaxation and reducing stress before bedtime. Types of Relaxing Music
Instrumental Music: Soft instrumental music, such as classical, piano, or acoustic guitar, can be very soothing.
Nature Sounds: Sounds of nature, such as ocean waves, rain, or birdsong, can create a peaceful and calming atmosphere.
Meditative Music: Tracks designed for meditation, with slow tempos and gentle rhythms, can help induce a state of deep relaxation.
I have relaxing music playing in the clinic. I also suggest that if you have preferences in community acupuncture that you can bring your own headphones and play what you prefer in relaxing music or audible as long as you are not disturbing anyone else sitting close.
